In 1987 Bret and Pam Griffis decided to purchase a local country store nestled in the eastern part of Hillsdale County Michigan. This began a family tradition of providing excellent service and quality for our customers.
Soon after purchasing the store we started processing deer in the rear of the small market to earn extra income. This extra income idea grew and soon the word of our warm quick service and quality smoked products traveled to all parts of the State.
Over the years, Jerome Country Market, has become known for its quality deer processing and custom butchering service for domestic animals. Customers visit our store on a daily basis to get their supply of USDA choice meats and specialty items.
After 17 years in a small country store we finally outgrew it, and in the fall of 2004 began the construction of what would be a state of the art building. This would allow us to grow and expand and still provide that warm country feel while continuing that excellent service we have always provided. This beautiful store, that you see on the front of our website, was finished in the fall of 2005. In 2006 the building design won the Architectural Award presented by the Chamber of Commerce, along with the People's Choice Award for best meat processing plant.
With 30 years in the meat processing industry, Bret has built his national reputation using secret family recipes and many newly created ones. The quality products Bret created have won numerous awards in state and national competitions, and these summer sausages, homemade hams, jerky, and other products are what keep continued customer loyalty returning to the store daily. Our products are even helping the troops in Iraq.
